In telegraphic jargon, even the above would have been shortened to maybe just 4 or 5 words as it would pinch the pocket.
Now we can be verbose in these ( "Whose Father's House's Knot will Go?" - In Kannada,'Yaar appana Manay Gantu Hogatthe?')
While in those days, the telegram was so useful and even a necessity to convey messages fast even from Bangalore to Mysore as when my BigFather (DhoDappa) passed away in 1964 for example. Telephones were only for the RICH.
Yet, no regrets that The Telegram itself IS NO MORE! We don't shed tears - we are happy with the NEW TECHNOLOGY. E-mails, SMS's, Direct Phone calls - these Mobile Phones are in the possession of the lowliest of classes, in monetary terms, I mean the poorest. They may skip a meal, but not a call or a CELL for want of money. We adjust to the TIMES: we EVOLVE!!
I must compliment you on the Collection and preservation of the TELEGRAMS (maybe away from your spouse's reach! - for my wife would have torn all these JUNK anyway!) You have made good use of them, Bravo! Let's see more such Junk in the open...in the forthcoming blogs from you...all the very Best to you and your Blogging Actions.
Kumar.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16824343747779049525noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4567368472934030352.post-79616158675974965112013-07-16T21:42:26.635-07:002013-07-16T21:42:26.635-07:00Copying from the mail he sent:

The response comes to him through telegram.
Master CVV says that telephone is a facility to reach the Higher Circles and that telegram is a facility to the higher circles to transmit the needed seed thought to the initiate. When an initiate seeks help he speaks in his own language of mind to the higher circles. Thereafter he waits to receive. The higher circles have a different language. They do not use as much speech as it is in the lower circles. They only transmit certain hints. It is general practice that while giving a telegram we do not form sentences. We communicate the essence. Thus hints come from higher circles, which are to be decoded into a language by the initiate himself.

Best regards / Ludger, SwitzerlandDinakar KRhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10148152470155668711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4567368472934030352.post-16823535846672007012013-07-16T20:00:31.448-07:002013-07-16T20:00:31.448-07:00Wonderful reminiscences, Dinakar. I shall never forget the candy pink colored paper, with the white Strip of paper on which the words were typed, pasted on it, and folded in four.
The facility one would miss most is that of the greetings telegrams sent on the occasion of weddings. From the pink they graduated to white with colored decoration, and matching envelopes.
To be honest, however, haven't seen a telegram in ages.RAJI MUTHUKRISHNANhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09767924355822361427noreply@blogger.com
