Secrets, wisdom and much more...

The internet is a popular source of information dissemination. We get forwarded e-mails every day from friends about various things, some appealing, some crazy, some silly, some absurd, some colourful, some spiritual, some philosophical, some funny, some hilarious jokes, some false facts packed in attractive messages and so on. Some are very meaningful too, worth storing and reading again and again with a hope that at least a few of those get to be adapted in daily life. It is hard to adapt new things, doubtless, (how many of us change our attitudes, or open our minds to learn good things?) but it can impress at one time or other. I reproduce here a few of those I thought are carrying some wisdom which on adaption in our own lives could make us better persons, or at least some happy reading!

Another realistic A to Z

A is for apple, and B is for boat,
That used to be right, but now it won't float!
Age before beauty is what we once said,
But let's be a bit more realistic instead.

Now ...

A's for arthritis;
B's the bad back,
C's the chest pains,
perhaps car-d-iac?

D is for dental decay and decline,
E is for eyesight, can't read that top line!
F is for fissures and fluid retention,
G is for gas which I'd rather not mention.

H is high blood pressure--I' d rather it be low,
I is for incisions with scars you can show.
J is for joints, out of socket, won't mend,
K is for knees that crack when they bend.

L is for libido, what happened to sex?
M is for memory, I forget what comes next.
N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low,
O is for osteo, the bones that don't grow!

P is for prescriptions, I have quite a few,
just give me a pill and I'll be good as new!
Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?
R is for reflux, one meal turns to two.

S is for sleepless nights, counting my fears,
T is for Tinnitus; there's bells in my ears!
U is for urinary; big troubles with flow,
V is for vertigo, that's "dizzy," you know.

W is for worry, NOW what's going 'round?
X is for X- ray, and what might be found.
Y is another year I'm left here behind,
Z is for zest that I still have -- in my mind.

I've survived all the symptoms, my body's deployed,
And I am keeping twenty-six doctors fully employed!!!

BE POSITIVE

Keep your thoughts positive,
because your thoughts become your words.

Keep your words positive,
because your words become your actions.

Keep your actions positive,
because your actions become your habits.

Keep your habits positive,
because your habits become your lifestyle.

Keep your lifestyle positive,
because your lifestyle becomes your destiny.

TAKE TIME

Take time to WORK. It is the PRICE OF SUCCESS.
Take time to MEDITATE. It is the PRICE OF POWER.
Take time to PLAY. It is the SECRET OF PERPETUAL YOUTH.
Take time to READ. It is the WAY TO KNOWLEDGE.
Take time to be FRIENDLY. It is the ROAD TO HAPPINESS.
Take time to LAUGH. It is the MUSIC OF THE SOUL.
Most importantly, take time to LOVE AND BE LOVED.

When I say 'good morning' I mean to say:

G -od
O -ffers us His
O -utstanding

M -ake us

R -eady for a
N -ew day with Him.
I -nspire others please, and
N -ever forget (I prefer always remember)
G -od loves you!

HAVE A BLESSED DAY!

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

REALIZE THAT:

Tears convey more than what words can ever say.

Lonlier you feel, lonlier the world makes you feel.

Even if I deserve the reward, I got to beg in order to get it.

Words had hurt me more than the wounds I had suffered in life.

No matter how many times I pray I only get what I rightfully deserve.

When I am ecstatic about something there are never enough people to share it with.

A face is not as important as it is made to believe.

It’s not always a coward who gives up a fight, sometimes smart people too.

Kids are never at fault – they just mirror our faults.

One person’s misery is another person’s merriment.

Every relationship has an expiry date.

I am better when I am silent.

""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

The "BE" Attitudes

Be understanding to your perceived enemies.
Be loyal to your friends.

Be strong enough to face the world each day.
Be weak enough to know you not do everything alone.

Be generous to those who need your help.
Be frugal with that you need yourself.

Be wise enough to know that you do not know everything.
Be foolish enough to believe in miracles.

Be willing to share your joys.
Be willing to share the sorrows of others.

Be a leader when you see a path others have missed.
Be a follower when you are shrouded by the mists of uncertainty.

Be first to congratulate an opponent who succeeds.
Be last to criticize a colleague who fails.

Be sure where your next step will fall, so that you will not tumble.
Be sure of your final destination, in case you are going the wrong way.

Be loving to those who love you.
Be loving to those who do not love you; they may change.

Above all, be yourself. JUST BE YOURSELF!

:::::::::::::::::::::::

"WHATEVER HAPPENS, HAPPENS FOR A REASON."

Its a good touchy message.

It does make sense and we should take the time every day to do what it says.

Around the corner I have a friend, In this great city that has no end, Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face, For life is a swift and terrible race, He knows I like him just as well, As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine if, we were younger then, And now we are busy, tired men. Tired of playing a foolish game, Tired of trying to make a name.

"Tomorrow" I say! "I will call on Jim" ,"Just to show that I'm thinking of him." But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes, And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner! yet miles away, "Here's a telegram sir". "Jim died today." And that's what we get and deserve in the end. Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Remember to always say what you mean. If you love or like someone, tell them.

Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you. Because when you decide that it is the right time it might be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets. And most importantly, stay close to your friends and family, for they have helped make you the person that you are today.

A Message by George Carlin:

Isn't it amazing that George Carlin - comedian of the 70's and 80's - could write something so very eloquent...and so very appropriate.

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,
but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things..

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

This is an uplifting blog, thank you. In reference to the poem: Around the Corner, I Have a Friend....

Many years ago when I was in my first year of high school, my English teacher assigned this poem for us to memorize. I do not remember the rest of the assignment, but she became my favorite teacher and I kept in touch with her over the following years.

I had an opportunity when she was in her 90's to nominate her for an award that was given by the University of Kentucky to teachers who had been truly wonderful and important to our lives. I was a teacher myself. She received the award, and I was invited to attend the presentation with her. This was to take place about 300 miles from my home, and I was unable to attend.

Very soon after that she sent me a card, and she enclosed a copy of the poem, asking if I still remembered it. She asked me to call her, and I did. When we talked she thanked me for the nomination and asked me to recite the poem to her. I asked her to recite it with me. And so we did.

She passed away just a few weeks later, and her daughters called to ask me to come to her memorial service. I went to the service, and found that she had requested that I recite that poem at the end of the service, just to remind others to keep up with friendships. I had met her in 1956, and she died in 1999. We had kept our friendship going for well over 40 years. It was a very special thing.

Your poem brought back a memory of a wonderful friend. Thank you.
